Intex was created in 1975 in Regina, Saskatchewan as a partnership between Larry Koop and Bill Hiebert. Primary clients were Key West Homes, Cairns Homes and Crawford Homes. Repaints were also a significant part of our business.
In 1984 the focus began to shift from residential to industrial/commercial applications, mainly new construction of the major oil companies. In 1986 Intex was a significant player in the Re-I.D. Program of Petro Canada when Gulf Service Stations and Bulk Plants were transformed into Petro Canada sites. The success of these projects resulted in an ongoing rapport with Petro Canada and building contractors who serve them, that continues to the present. These relationships led to a preferred sub-contractor status that included work with Shell Oil, Esso, Husky, Mohawk and Arco sites. Upon the Hiebert family's relocation to BC in 1989, Intex was able to succesfully continue many of these trusted business connections.
The most recent program for Petro Canada was the remediation of the FRP canopies where factory applied finishes had faded and discolored. Intex remediated over 150 sites from Winnipeg, MB to Courtney, BC. The project required field preparation and application of automotive finishes while keeping the station in full operation and observing the strict protocol of Petro Canada safety requirements.
Intex projects also include Tilt-Up warehouses, Tenant Improvements, restaurants, offices and private residences.
Corey Hiebert became involved with Intex at an early age, helping his dad with the kind of things eight year olds can including scraping, sanding, cleaning and errands. Over the years he became proficient with the skills required to satisfy clients, from customer relations to the application of paint products. Until recently any projects he undertook were as an employee or sub-contractor of Intex Painting. In 2008 it was determined an independent subsidiary of Intex Painting should be created. It is known as Intex2.
